Do You Condone Taking The Law Into Your Own Hands?

Just as the title asks, do you condone murder?

Now, I know it would depend on the circumstance and what the person does. However, I'm not talking about the death penalty or the justice system at all, I mean would you kill condone killing or having someone killed.

Thoughts?

I don't believe that anyone deserves death under any circumstances.

I think if someone kills another or rapes someone, then I think the person who was raped has the right to seek their own justice, no matter what it is. Now, if someone is murdered then I believe someone from their family has the right to seek with own justice.

Other than that... I don't think people should kill.

I believe in eye for an eye, I'd much rather not waste money on giving housing and food and whatnot for a convicted murderer. At that point all they are, are leeches to the country.

I don't believe in "eye for an eye", because I don't believe in murder as a form or retribution, even if that person murdered someone else.

However, if these folks have manipulated and killed multiple people or children, and there's no hope for recovery, then that to me is warrant for them to be done away with.

They are a danger to society and they're likely repeat offenders if they escape.

I don't think anyone should be given the death penalty. I would rather them sit in prison for the rest of their life without probation.

Edit: actually TConnor has a good point in that we shouldn't be wasting resources on murderers

At what point do we draw the line though? Sure there are the outliers like once versus thirty times. And then there are the cases of self-defense as long as it is proved. I guess I should've been more specific in my modified term for an eye for an eye. If said person has proved that it was in Self-Defense then obviously the person shouldn't be sentenced to death since they would've likely had been killed themselves hadn't they gone to the extent of defense they did. But this brings up another thing, at what point do we draw the line? At what point do we decide enough is enough and this person is a danger? 2? 3? 4? 5? At what point is he TOO much of a murderer? Can there be different tiers of murderers? What's the difference between the mindset of a serial killer and someone who has murdered only once and not out of self-defense?

I guess I don't like the fact that murderers and rapists live off of tax dollars when it's a hell of a lot more affordable to just drop them off into the ocean or give them a lethal injection. How much does it cost to house a life sentence criminal compared to a death sentence?

Isn't it legal to kill someone if they come at you with a knife or gun?

Depends on the place, I know in many states here in the United States that Self-Defense is an applicable defense against a murder charge so long as you can prove you were in danger of dying or were severely harmed.

I'm not talking about Prison... I'm talking about revenge, as in when justice fails.

But at that point if Justice "fails" who can decide if the person who was found to be Not Guilty "Guilty", that person who murders the recently found Not Guilty person in question has absolutely no defense in court. I believe death sentences should be held in court and NOT in the hands of the people, as the people tend to be stupid.

Well, I was stabbed 8 times and the guy never got jail time with nothing but a slap on the wrist, and I've got a lifetime of pain with more to come.

I'm not saying I would kill him, but I want to make him suffer as I have.

So, maybe not really murder but maybe just taking the law into your own hands and perhaps just a beating.

I'm more lax on murder. If it's self-defense, go right ahead.

If someone killed my entire family for no reason, I'd want revenge. I'd want them to know the pain they inflicted on me a thousand times over.

Killing just to kill, though, I'm not so sure about.

I know from experience and my job that the justice system isn't "fair." When that's the case, taking the law into your own hands isn't irredeemable.

Sorry to hear about that btw, that's some bulls***. Guy should've served some time.

Personally, I would say a beating is fine but... You would likely be the one to be put behind bars and serve time in this scenario. Although perhaps you might be able to put in the fact the guy got a slap on the wrist for attempted to murder you. Then again people might just say you're using that as an excuse to commit a crime.

Perhaps, but if I were to do something like that I would plan out everything and make up a very solid alibi with people to back me up.

I never jump into anything without covering my a***.
